Default Oily view from underneath

Had my car in today for tire rotation and fix a leak in my rear passenger tire. The low pressure sensor was broken on one side and was hanging, while I was waiting for a sensor from a corvette parts buddy, the mechanic let me scout around underneath the car while it was on his lift. Oily surfaces were visible around the oil filter. From one side to the other around the freeze plugs. The oil wasn't visible above the head gasket. It actually was like a line drawn in the sand. From that seam down it was oily. Above it, clean. All the oil was located on the rear part of the block. Drops are falling from the oil pan plug, transmission bell housing, and blows along the bottom of the tranny. I recently did a intake manifold gasket replacement. Is it possible that is this source, or a main seal ? It doesn't make a big mess, but I can't stand leaks. Any thoughts ?

Could it be the valve cover leaking and running back there? Head gaskets don't leak oil. (usually)

Thanks Benny, I'm off this week and I will look closer from the top tomorrow. I used FelPro gaskets on the valve covers. The leak would have to be from the rear of the VC's. May have to take one off and see if its obviously leaking. Will keep you posted.

Leaks like this can be hard to track down.

I suggest you have your mech buddy add a fluorescent dye to your engine oil, then shine a U/V light on the engine while it's running in a darkened part of his shop.

The source of the leaks will be POSITIVELY revealed.

Here's an idea. Clean the oil off with simple green at a car wash. Then cruise over to Kemah and have dinner. The next day look for the new oil. If you don't find it, you still had good seafood benny

Not a bad idea, it was never this bad before the intake manifold gasket replacement. I'm leaning more toward this. I might not have let it cured long enough when I reset it. The front has no shiny surfaces, no oil. How much oil would exit the rear intake ? Will clean tommorrow and let you know.

I watched the intake thread. That rear block rail can be hard to see if you got it or not. Good luck, you'll get it whipped. benny
