Default Least Expensive Long Tubes?

I'm thinking of getting long tubes for my car, but Corvette tax or not, I can't see spending the prices I've seen, anyone have a good line on where to get some decent quality long tubes for a reasonable price?

I believe the Headman's are the least expensive long tube.

I think you can buy Hookers for $120.00 or so, but they look like junk.Thin flanges (1/4") and no ceramic coating.
The best bang for the buck would be the Hedman Elites, about $335.00 from Summit or Jegs, both of which are forum supporting vendors. I believe they come with everything you need to install them as well.

Good luck with your choice.

I just put a set of the headmen elites on my 85. Easy install and they look decent. No problems at all with fitment of them.

With the amount of effort you'll be spending, why cheap yourself? You pay for what you get. Cheap ones rust rapidly and start to leak shortly after. Now if you're selling the Vette, go cheap.

Normally I agree, but I can't see spending 1000 on a flange and some 1 7/8 pipe welded on it, because when you think of it, thats all a header is.

Whatever I get will be coated with a 2000 degree coating.

I'm leaning to the headman elites, but do they make them for the LT platform?

Did you look at the EM long tubes? Quality headers at a medium price. Then there are the Stainless tubes that are for those who spare no expense. Yes there is a difference in how you weld those pipes to the flange. It takes a lot of research and developement to maximize the scavenging and making them fit.

the EMs are a very nice looking piece, but $771 is still a bit more than I'm willing to spend for the gains that come with headers.

The Hedman Hedders probably offer the best bang for the buck. They have the 1 5/8" primary tubes that are better for your DD than many of the other brands. For most Corvette applications they offer a variety of choices, the bare bones painted headers, which are quite inexpensive (relatively), the same headers ceramic coated and also the "Elites", which have thicker flanges and ceramic coating included. Go to Hedman's web site to make a selection and then to the retailer (Summit or Jegs) of your choice for pricing.

Give them a call, they may very well give you the group purchase price of $671.00...if you ask.

They don't make anything that'll fit a C4, do they? I looked for a set of Tri-Y's a couple of years ago, but nada for this car.

if i did it all over again i would have foregone the expense of getting the hooker headers from summit, coated, and drop shipping them to HPC coatings for a full coat treatment. i ended up spending about $650 total for that little gig. and the 1 3/4" hookers are not the correct header for a 355cid. if i had a 396cid i would have gone with 1 3/4".

and instead would have purchased the 1 5/8" headman elites from summit, coated, for $413 and been done with it right here.

it would have been less expensive and a better sized primary for my puny 355cid. its called living and learning.
