84 c4 Digital Tach issues
Ok, I am a newbie here. I wanted to know if my digital dash may be going or is it a bad ground somewhere. I start the vette and the digital tach stays at 0 for about 5 minutes then once I rev it, the tach jumps to life. Now the tach is illuminated but it acts like it is not get the right signal. What do you guys think it may be. What and where should I look for the problem.

There is a white wire at the distributor cap that feeds into the cluster harness. This is your tach signal wire, it's probably damaged or loose/corroded at the distributor plug. There is also a tach filter inline with this wire, bolted to the back of the drivers side head, very tough to get to, it's a cylinder about the size of a AA battery, check those wires for damage.

On his Crossfire it is at the rear of the intake manifold on a double ended stud that acts as one of the manifold lid hold down bolts. He only has to loosen or remove a nut to take the filter off. It is a silvery colored cylinder that looks a little like a condenser, but it has a wire coming out of each end.
