Default Ported MAF ENDS????

Anyone got any input on the MAF ends? I saw dyno tests saying they got a 9rwhp/7rwtq gain off them, any truth?

Not for anything remotely resembling a stock LT1.

Got a link to that dyno graph?

Dont believe it. Even if it did, youd never feel it.

Heres the link for a article.

Even if I dont "feel" it doesnt matter cause its still more hp down to the ground. I know I need to just need to go bigger if I wanna see results. But Im thinking cheap removeable parts for resale when I go to trade in for a newer vette.

I also caught that article a while back. Does anyone know if the Mid America housing requires the removal of the screens?

Thanks

I recall Alvin @ PCMForLess claiming he can reproduce ~5hp gain on back-to-back runs just by removing the screens on a stock MAF.

I've got them and the "power couplers" after seeing them on another Vette. Can't say they add power doesn't feel like it but they do look good. The SLP claw was on the Vette when I got it and I've since made a real cold air system for it.

Just pull the screens. Don't cut anything. That's a $300 fix if you screw it up.

What do I know? I think my MAF just bought it.

I just ordered one from Mid America. They are on sale for $39.99.

That was the article I was looking for earlier. http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vemp_06...ow_sensor.html

Here is my take on this subject, not that anyone cares.
We use flow meters at work to send the info to an injection pump (fertalizer). They require 10 times the diameter run before the meter and 5 times the diameter aft of meter, so the water will have good laminar flow and give the most accurate reading.
Recently, I installed a few meters that require no free run before or aft of meter. Why, because they have a wire mesh grid, just like our MAF's.
This gives the flowing water good laminar flow for the most accurate measurement.
I will be keeping my grids in the MAF

If you guys can feel 5 rwhp you have some very sensitive asses. You may want to rent them out to the earthquake 1st responders.

Doesn't the A/C use around 5 HP? I can really feel that when the compressor runs.

All of the tests in the article seem to be accurate. Well they are at least what most on the forum report. (0hp for K&N, 3hp for open lid, 1 hp for TB bypass, 0hp for adjustable fuel pressure regulator, I'll exclude the 160 stat on this one ) These are all products that are also sold by Mid America who claim ridiculous gains on all these items. I just thought it was interesting that the article reported that much with the ported MAF along with some tuners.

I dont know about adding any HP, but I will say they absolutely provided much better throttle response. To de-screen or not I can't answer as the screen was not present in my 95 when I installed the ported housing.........

Where they tested the fuel pressure, it seems they don't know anything about the car. Doesn't the LT1 computer just correct for fuel pressure changes?
