I have a couple of leaks along the top of the windshield and at the front corners. I was wondering if anybody knows of any temporary fixes until I get the $ to replace it. I was thinking maybe getting some weatherstripping from the hardware store. Any suggestions???
Re: TEMPORARY fix for leaking windshield seal (dtorc4)
Yep...
Go get a tube of black RTV sealant and a box or plastic food wrap. Remove the top and open the doors. Apply a bead of sealant across ALL gasket seal areas and cover with the static wrap, then put the top on and shut the doors and let it cure overnight. The next day, simply peel the plastic wrap off. The RTV will be formed to the top/windows and make a leakproof seal. If you do it right, it won't even look noticeable.
It also reduces inside noise when driving down the highway. :)
Of course...it's not really a replacement for new gaskets...but it gets the job done.
