Lt4 hotcam upgrade
For those of you who have done this upgrade, first of all was it worth it? Does your car lope alot at idle? does the cpu need to be reprogrammed. The reason i am asking is because i found out today that my cam lobe has become warn so it needs replacement. Thx

I just did a hot cam installation. After a few minor issues, the car is driving like it did before, and YES, it lopes quite nicely at idle. In fact, the way it sounds is surprising since everyone insists that the hot cam is a mild cam. If you listen to my car, you couldn't tell whether I had a mild cam or a cc306. My idle may be a tad low however (700 rpm).
Plus from 35mph and up, the car defininetly picked up some acceleration. Now I am wondering if my transmission will hold up

With the Hotcam in you'll have low vacuum at idle. It helps the PCM manage things at idle to have the idle raised in the computer. My tuner raised mine to 950rpm. Other than that the A/F was right on across the range until I made other changes to the engine and got a full tune. My car did not idle crappy until I swapped to a 52mm throttle body, then I had to have a tune.
