Default New L98 stalling after start-up, please help

Hi everyone, I just installed a new L98 into my newly acquired 87 auto vette. Afetr installing the intake, accessories, upper TPI, the car actually starts and idles for 1-2 seconds and then just dies. By giving it more gas in just sputters and will not maintain the rpms, and still dies.
I checked the timing, plugs, wires (all new), sparks look darker, from trying to start it initially with 180 degrees off... (fixed that:o )
but now I do not know what to do. I am trying to hook up all the vacuum hoses but the diagram in Chiltons is crap... I ordered a new bok on TPI setups but it still has not come in. I am running out of patients.
Also noticed that the rear vacuum from the Fuel pressure regulator is spitting gas out, is that normal?
Can anyone help me out?
Anyone with good diagram of the vacuums?
Any sensor diagrams? I have the mass air set-up but the air pump is deleted.

I am starting to think that I have a fuel problem...
The car starts- most of the time, afte few times cranking, and then dies off. The fuel Pump? - would it start with the pump bad, but not continue to run?
pressure regulator? do those diaphragm gasket repair kits with the spring work or should I get a new regulator. I have never heard this car run, bought it with a spun rod and just got a shop to build me a whole new block with head works...
Did not come wired correctly, previous owner had the intake almost dissassembled so I am not even sure where most of the vacuums go to.
Any help would be appreciated.

A "new regulator" (from, say NAPA or wherever) will consist of a diaphram/spring assy., which is likely what you need since gas in the vacuum line is a symptom of a failed diaphram. Yes, low fuel pressure can cause a start/stall condition - get a gage on it and see what you have - After you fix the bad regulator.

Get a copy of the "factory" manual - the Helms book. It'll save you countless hours of frustration..

Your fuel reg diaphragm is toast. I have the 86 FSM on my hard drive, if you need some specific info, I can upload it or email it.
Here is a basic view of your vacuum lines.

Default fuel tester

you can make an inexspensive fuel press tester with cheap 0-50 psi gauge and an old ac charging hose. the fit perfect. its easiest to move map sensor out of way.

I am off to replace the diaphragm on the fpr.
Thansk again,

In combination to many "not so helpful threads and ranting and raving" I will say one thing, this is why I like the forums, you still have many who actually care and help. Keep up the good work, and thanks again.
