I bought a pair of headmen elites with no 02 bungs or egr fitting, a friend told me that i can blank off the whole EGR system all together. What are the side effects of doing this? Am i going to get a ton of check engine lights? Is the Engine going to run lean? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!
Have 87 also; removed all air, and blocked off EGR; have no issues, did have my chip redone to remove EGR code.. O2, you can have one welded in or get one already in the flange adapter to the Y-pipe, i used the heated O2 version/3-wire, seeing as it was so low on the exhaust to heat up quicker.
Before removing it all, unplug the vac line from the egr valve and put a rubber cap on the valve.Plug the vacuum line you took off with something, then go drive it.
This will prevent the egr from working and youll see if you will have any problems driving, stalling or pinging. Most L98s work fine without egr even though its equipped with one to reduce part throttle emissions.
If there are no problems, and no check engine light, all youll need to do is ground the egr switch wire somewhere that goes into the crossover tube.
If no problems but egr trouble light comes on,then you can have the chip done to remove it.
Just be sure youre not detonating at part throttle without egr function.
Dont want to damage your engine, but as I said, most L98s work fine without it.

I have no EGR for 4 years, not a problem yet, not even a code set. I have the Hedman Elites and welded in my bung into their collector adapter that is supplied with headers. I am also using a 3 wire heated O2 sensor.
