Default Short-throw shift arms??

Just found the forum last week- got my Vette 3 years ago, boy this would have saved hours of frustration. Dealers are worthless for helpfull info. Anyway, have any of you guys installed these? Looking to see if they are worth the effort and also if install is as easy as it appears. Again, love the forum, you guys seem to be full of it ( helpful info that is ) and you guys have some really sweet cars!

Hi Shimy,

I installed these on my 86 and they do shorten the throws. Its not a huge difference, but worth it for the cost. They are very easy to install.

Thanks Paul,

If you put these in maybe you tried some other things I've considered??
Airfoil in Throttle body, power coupler- between MAF and throttle body? I put in the K&N fiter, cut out the air cleaner lid and cut the screens out of the MAF. Thought it help some but maybe wishful thinking?!?

The ones I got were a bit of a sloppy fit on the shift shafts, causing the neutral aligment to go to crap on hard shifts, no matter how much I tightend the nuts down.

Cure was to shrink up the slot hole with a ball peen hammer until I had to tap them gently to get them onto the trans.

Also be sure and readjust your neutral alignment, I did it by feel without taking anything in the interior apart. Tried that the first time using an alignment tool, and the results weren't as good due to different slot widths in the gates.

Don't take it personaly, but the other mods you mentioned range from completely worthless to nearly worthless. I would ditch the power coupler, these things split at the bottom seam and will fill your motor with dirt for a long while before you notice it.

My short throw arms also came loose and messed up my neutral alignment also, but from me racing it at the track on successent weekends. I have a 5 year old power coupler with no split in its seam yet. The worthless mods need other mods to help them out (except maybe the airfoil - no helping that) - they do add up, and not just in cost. Yes, I've given the mod police some fodder for sure.......

I've come across two of these power couplers so far that were split. The owners had no idea until I pointed it out to em. Seen it posted countless times on here too. Keep an eye on it.

One of the common counterproductive mods I see is people replacing the accordian with a Home Depot reducer/expansion no-hub coupling. This puts a sudden diameter increase within inches of the throttle body and has to be a hell of a lot worse for air flow than the gradual factory duct and it's surface turbulence.
