I was at Road America last weekend, I took some pictures and video.
The video when it plays doesn't look as nice as what I uploaded, downloading it and playing it in full screen may look much better. There were many fast cars behind me, but aside from the traffic in the beginning, I had clear track. I was surprised no one caught up to me, I had bad brakes in this video. In the heats before the video I was much faster. There are five heats of twenty mins at the MFBA event, my camera can only hold fifteen mins though. Enjoy!
Cool video This makes me really want to go road racing instead of bangin' gears in the 1/4 mile It's surprising how competitive the C4's are even after all these years!
Lots of fun was had, I love the track time. I also drag race, that is fun to. But it is hard to get much time in since the drag tracks are usually so busy. I was very pleased with how the car did being run hard for so long, and my driving seemed good. Next time at RA I will move the camera forward. The chasecam.com mount held excellent on the roof even over the rumble stacks! I should have had it stuck on a little more forward. I hope to see some 2:4x times this fall.
I've only been to RA once, my 1st track event. I really want to get back there. Despite my crash
What happened?
On the straights in the vid, only 120 MPH. If you watch the front of the car, I was letting off the gas real early, by the corner worker coming into the sharp left turn with the tires. The nose will drop. Before the brakes had troubles, I was in the 130's. I've been going spring and fall with MFBA. I was thinking to start going with NASA in the summer, and perhaps get into TT. The time trials would be fun being more competitive.
So how did your times compare to say a C5/C6 or Z28?
I can't say for sure because I did not time anyone else. I could try to next time I go. The sessions are 20 mins long and in that time only those two cars in the vid past me. The first was a Z06 with an instructor driving. My brakes were acting poor so I didn't go deep in the corners. There were C5 and C6's in my session though and I didn't pass them nor get past. Comparing times can be problematical at an HPDE because not everyone runs as hard. If there is a Viper there in my class next time I'll get on the grid behind him for CC. I had a lot of open track, next time I go I will try to play more and see how other cars do.

I learn about lift throttle oversteer the hard way! The car rotated 90 degrees, then 180 degrees the other way, three times
I was lucky, when I hit the wall the car had rotated enough so my bumper was square with the wall. The bumper was marred, and I mashed a muffler shut. I had to pry it open with a tire iron in order to get home. Now you know also why I have muffler eliminators on the car.
