Default Couple nitrous mounting questions

Hey guys, I'm thinking of doing a little spray on my LT4, but I have a couple mounting questions.

Where can I mount the bottle and still have some storage space, And still store the top, I'm thinking I may need to go with 5lb bottle to accomplish this.

Any good place to mount the noids where theyre not so obvious? I was thinking of a bracket off the PS Fluid reservoir bracket.

And where the hell should I mount the arming switch, where it will be semi-easy to install, and easy to get to.

Thanks in advance!

I put my arming switch on the flat part of the dash under the speedometer, behind the tilt wheel handle. It was invisible to anyone else and I could reach it by sliding my fingers under the tilt stalk.

Wow really, a 10# will fit in there? How did you access to turn it on, or did you use a remote opener?

Anyone have pics of a setup like that?

I played with a 10lb bottle in the carrier for months and never could find an orientation that allowed the carrier to go completely back up into the stock location, and still let me have good access to the siphon tube. No matter what I tried, once the bottle less than 1/2 full, the performance when using nitrous began to suffer. I tried pulling the siphon tube out of the bottle, pointing the bottle forward, backward, etc... However, I do think you could get two 5 lb. bottles in the carrier pretty easily. That's what I would do for a semi stealth install.

For the solenoids, you can put them under the battery. Remove the body panel that covers the battery and check it out.

I used the factory sport seat controls for my arming switches. I'm working on posting a small write up on it on my website. I'll PM you when it's done.

Looking at pics of your setup Rick, wouldn't that bottle position be bad for the siphon under acceleration?

ya it fits easy ,and i had the bottle open all the time so when you put in a fresh bottle you leave the valve open ,at least thats the way i did it ,if you make your own bottle brackets you can even cover it with the spare tire cover .im going to do it again just for the hell of it .i will post pics when i get it done,it wont be for a few weeks yet

Please post pics, I don't have a tire cover, but I'll make something, if it fits in there, that would be PERFECT, as I would have the storage, and not have to worry about drilling holes in the car

When I did mine I only used a 15# bottle in the hatch. I just used the front mounting bracket. I pulled back the carpeting that covers the storage hatch cover and drilled holes in that. Now that I don't have the nitrous I put the carpet back and no one would ever know that it was once there. I also had no problem putting my top in the back even with the 15# bottle, this was with an NX kit.

I also put my bottle inside a gym bag to keep it on the down low. Nobody every knew it was in there. I had several people try to pull the bag out of the car.

As for the switches I put them inside the center console. I took off the shifter cover trim piece and put them in the coin slots. Worked very well for keeping them out of site.

The tube inside the bottle is angled down and toward the back for proper siphon.

Glad to see someone that thinks before chucking a bottle in.

I'm really interested in the spare carrier location tho, sounds like it fits all I'm looking for in a mounting position

I wanted to put mine (10#) in the spare tire area. It fit in there just fine and like already mentioned you'd have to fab some brackets for it. The angle of the bottle in there is the reason we didn't put it there. The carrier slants to the front of the car and you can't get the bottle in there with the opener facing forward and the bottle tilted correctly. You would have to use several smaller bottles if you want them in there IMHO.

i don't like the dry system i always use a wet system never had a engine blow on wet but did burn a friends Honda s2000 engine and my friends trans am engine blew up with a dry system ,i think it might of been abuse lolol .i just like the idea of the fuel getting sprayed in with the nos ,the s2000 had a zex kit and t/a had a nos kit both dry.that was enough for me after seeing that i don't like the dry systems

I Like wet as well, I don't trust the C4 MAF that well. UGH, wanna drive it down here? I'll pick up a kit and we can install together heh.

That is really not the best idea you have ever had, guaranteed!
You need to spring for a remote opener. If you ever have an NOS selenoid go bad while your car is sitting parked with the bottle open, you are going to have one really big kaboom next time you go to start it!

The ZEX for the LT1 doesnt use the MAF to increase fuel. It has a fuel booster in line with the fuel pump. It also has a management unit that watches the TPS for WOT and adjusts the nitrous to fuel ratio based on the bottle pressure. It is safer then most dry kits. The solenoid can still fail just like any other kit. I went with bigger injectors also to be safe. I like the wet kits because you can go for a much bigger shot. Dry kits are good for 125 shot and below.

Good read here about Wet vs Dry and Saftey.

I always leave the bottle off when not in use. Having a convertible it's fairly easy to reach back and turn it on. I'd get a remote opener if it was not accessable. Even if the solenoid didn't fail you could slowly loose nitrous if the system is not 100% leak free.
