Ok,
After 2 new pumps and with 2 different regulators, my fuel pressure jumps up to 40 and goes back down to 0 within 30 seconds of shutting the ignition off
I've had the manifold off and pressurized it, so the injectors aren't leaking, and the pulsator is gone and replaced w/ the piece of hose that came with the Racetronix kit w/ 2 clamps on each side
There's no fuel in the vacuum line with either of the regulators, one is a stocker and the other is an accell afpr (it's a Lt-1 manifold conversion)
There's no gasoline smell and no fuel on the ground, etc
Does anyone have any ideas, before I buy a holley 670 and torker II and call it a day?
You can localize the issue by:
1) clamp the return line near the tank and apply power to the pump; if pressure holds the regulator is the problem
2) power the pump and, while it is running, clamp the delivery line near the tank; if pressure holds the problem is in the pump
3) if both the pump & regulator test ok, look for leaks in the line and/or injectors
Not sure if the accell fpr would be the same but with my Aeromotive fpr the pressure drops immediately after shutoff - the guys at Aeromotive said this is normal behavior for their regulator.
But if the car is running fine I wouldn't worry about it that much.
Occasionally when starting the car it will take an extra second or two but nothing major.
