Just want to let you know of a known problem with the Ecklers web site where you'll get screwed on shipping.
Background... I needed ball joints for my car and wanted to get them this weekend. I place the order about 10pm on Thursday over the internet and had paid $38 for 1 day shipping.
What happen...I called Ecklers today (Monday) to find out where my order was. I thought I'd get it Saturday (since Friday would be a processing day), if nothing else Sunday. What the person at Ecklers said was that there is a know defect in their website that will allow you to order items (and charge you) for 1 day shipping, but it doesn't ask you if you want your items delivered on the weekend. She said that this problem is with their (Ecklers) web site by not allowing it to link with FedEx. She said that FedEx will only deliver to certain zipcode on weekend, and since they can't link to the FedEx web site, they don't know where these zip codes (usually major cities) are. Their web site will still allow the customer to select 1 day shipping even though they know that it will be a minimum of 3 day.
With a big company like Ecklers, you'd think that their software would inform you that your wasting your money asking for 1 day shipping (when they know it's incorrect). Just wanted you guys to be aware that yes, FedEx delivers on weekend to major cities. But, it really doesn't matter because Ecklers web site never asks if Weekend delivers are ok. Save your money, and don't ask for 1 day shipping....
I am not sure how this thread pertains to C4 tech and performance.
Next Day Air in the shipping world and online shopping cart world means the next business day, which is Monday - Friday. Most of the catalogs from various companies or website should cleary state their processing time or delivery time. Some will state items will take 1 to 3 days processing time before the items ships via the selected shipping method. Some sites actually will have an option for expedited order processing in addition to the additional freight charges. So if you want them to put your Next Day Air order on the top of the list to get shipped out immediately you pay another fee for that.
Of course you and I would think selecting next day air or second day air would be an automatic flag for them to get the items shipped out right away as you are paying an arm and a leg for shipping. But that is not how it typically works.
And few places I have seen offer the UPS Saturday delivery option. That would be Next Day Air with Saturday Delivery in UPS shipping lingo vs Next Day Air. So next day air items shipping on Friday always will arrive on a Monday. If the actual shipping option states Next Day Air with Saturday Delivery, then you would be purchasing Saturday delivery.
If the site does not mention the processing time prior to shipment then that rather sucks.
But if the shipment option for Next Day Air did not say Saturday delivery, then I really don't think it is a fault with the site. If you look at various online stores it would be rare for any of them to have a Saturday delivery option listed.
None of this of course explains where my C5 bra and C5 Engine dress up kit are which I ordered two weeks ago from Eckler's which are being drop shipped from somewhere. The website said to allow a couple days extra for shipment as the items are drop shipped.
Based on my current two orders with Eckler's and my recent visit in Titusville, I am not really very impressed with them and in the future plan to use Mid America.
On 03-19-07 I ordered, via phone, 2 valve cover bolts, 2 valve cover grommets, and a magnetic oil pan drain plug. According to their FedEx tracking my parts have been in Oahu, I live on the Big Island, since April 4th, I live on the Big Island
E-mailed them told be "estimated receipt is 04-24.
Is it just me or does it seem that if they stuck the sh** in an envelope with a couple of stamps. I'd have it by now, or does FedEx now employ migrating turtles?
Summary for those who don't want to read all of that...
1.) Ecklers sucks.
2.) Always order phone to verify inventory, price, and ship date.
, I told the order taker guy about their
horrible delivery issues on my last order and he said " well, I will mail it today with NO charge this time, but next time order sooner"
What a crock, it should never take 7 days to get a package, IMHO.
The best I have found is ZIP and The last Detail, better prices, much better service.
i've had good luck with corvette central, mid america, corvette america, and zip. i've had excellent transactions with willcox (a forum vendor). years ago (around 1990), i placed an order with ecklers for several small items. long story short, they broke the order up, sent it out in two small boxes, and charged me twice for S&H. as i remember, it was a $39 order with around $15 shipping -
I have dealt with Ecklers a few times by mail and have picked items up also. Had things on back order which came in and dealt with some of the technical, sales people and managers personally at the showroom. They seemed to be a good crew and can’t complain yet.
Any of the companies can get certain aspects of ordering or correct parts messed up at times. I’m not specify defending them or doubt any of the bad experiences others have had. This just has just been my personal experience over the last few years. There is always room for improvement in many directions out there.
I've never ordered from Eckler's (prolly won't either) but I've never been rooked by Mid-America Motorworks (MAM). I ordered a hood drain kit and it arrived within two days of my online order.
I was told to expect five to seven days for standard shipping but they exceeded my expectations.

I always have had good dealings with MAM. I always get my orders in earlier than expected.
I must add however lers prices (i dont know about quality) beat most of the other companies but with what we in the middle of the pacific ocean get charged for shipping is criminal.
For the prices they charge, they better send a Vietnamese hooker along with the shipment.
For what it's worth, the service that I have received from Corvette Central has been terrific. The quality of their products, though, is hit or miss. I just bought muffler eliminator pipes from them and the exhaust tips are already showing surface rust.
I orderd mats from Ecklers, the wrong color came. When I received the correct (color) ones they were a less quality mat then the wrong color ones I received.
I liked that movie they made about Fed-ex (The Cast Away), but Fed-ex is on my black list. I ordered a $1,500 camera lens from KEH in Atlanta. One of the Fed-ex drivers had a history of no wanting to come into my driveway. He even took an item to the post office and mailed so he could avoid having to back his truck around in my driveway. When KEH sent the lens, the Fed-ex driver chunked the lens into a dumpster and kept on truckin'.
Fortunately, an honest construction contractor found my lens (still in the box) in the dumpster and called the sheriff's department. The department called me and I picked up the lens. The lens worked well for a while but later developed problems. It's been in the shop twice because of focusing problems. All warranties have run out. This is why I hate Fed-ex. No one was prosecuted. But I think the driver was fired.
