I know there are tuns and tuns of these and I myslef have started one but im wondering how you guys like all yours, I have done mine as well but im wondering how u guys like them, i feel like i lost alittle bit of performance but im not sure, havent dynoed it so i wont ever really know.
I don't think opening up the exhaust would cause you to lose power. IMO But then again I can see how removing something like an X-pipe could cause a loss in power. I don't know enough about the stock system and design to say what removing the muffler does. I would think that the stock exhaust does have some restriction and removing those restrictions could only be good but may not be totally necessary until doing bigger mods on the later model C4's. There is usually a balance between Torque and HP when messing with the exhaust which you may have read about with header installs. If one did go down the other may have gone up.?? I think the improved sound vs. the stock system is worth it.

I took mine off and put my magnaflows back on. it was a little to loud for me. it sounded good, but got old listening to it on a longer trip. I did leave the X pipe on
I bought my '89 with the elims already on there. I couldn't stand the sound and put factory mufflers back on for now (going to a true dual setup soon). It's not that it was too loud, it just had that untuned raucous sound that wasn't pleasing to me. I see you have a '94 which is a totally different exhaust setup, tho.
You will lose a little bit of power, but you'll never know it. The sound you get is worth it though.
I have hundreds of timeslips to back up my claim.
You lost power over the stock mufflers?
I put a set on a stock 84 exhaust because I love the sound and is still emmission legal. I am running the stock manifolds, stock cat and pipes until the muffler location.
I did my elims. last year and am very happy with the sound. It's got the rumble I wanted without being too obnoxious.
I just did mine a few days ago. I love the sound, but the fit and finish and materials that the eliminator pipes are made out of leave a lot to be desired. I purchased pre-made eliminator pipes from a well-known corvette supplier ($150+ shipped! ). I think that I should have just taken the car to an exhaust shop and had them custom made... that would be my advice to anyone considering eliminators.
I took mine off a little while ago. I do like the more aggressive sound, not as loud as I feared it would be. I am also challenged by ricers alot less, this is good.
However, my stock resonator (96 LT4) sounds like crap at certain rpm's. I plan on replacing it with either a magnaflow dual in/out w/ built in x-pipe or a Dynomax flow-x. This will (hopefully) improve the tone under acceleration, reduce resonance as well as improve torque with the built in x-pipe. The stock resonator is just a big empty space.
Still have the mufflers. Perhaps if I clean them up a bit I will make an ashtray out of them or something.
P.S. My ultra sensative "seat of the pants" dyno noticed no change in power.

thanks guys for all the info and input, I Love the sound and wouldnt change the exhaust if someone even paid me specially wouldnt go to something that cost more than 150.00. what a deal what a sound. I wanna go luder tho, just dont know is next and what to get. i wanna get rid of my resonator. and replace with an Xpipe...see ya guys later

I didnt realize you would loose power from that.
Gotta love the sound!!!!!
Definitely lost power, I regained it when I put mufflers back on.

How much loss would you guess?
I did the eliminators several weeks ago. I wish I would have done it the moment I took ownership. As you stated, I have felt no noticeable drop in power.
When I bought my car it had them on it. When the Y pipe went I took the then shot elims down to a local muffler shop and told the guy to "bend a couple of pipes the same as these". He asked what they were for, I told him it was an "old chevy". Result : $20 out the door. They were perfect, came out just beyond the rear bumper.
I always ment to put Pacesetter muffs on, but never did. All the older guys on my street like the sound (even some of the wives and kids) but I'm very resectful as I leave and return. As for being too loud my son falls asleep in the car (15).
What kind of losses you seen? You have timeslips to back it up you said. Just curious...did you lose a 10th, etc.??
Please anyone w/ timeslips or dyno results to back this up post?
I have my CC muffler eliminators & IMCO X pipe on order...they should be here next week...I am quite pumped!!!!
JKK
i have a '94 automatic:
i'm no expert, but i ordered the catback chambered exhaust w/ H pipe and muffler elims from CC....i have not noticed a loss in power at all. i do not race my car, but i will drive somewhat aggressively from time to time when the highways are empty. the sound is well worth any minimal loss that some people claim to experience. to be honest, i would say i notice a bit more giddy up when i hit the gas now. you would think that with no resonator and no mufflers, there should be less restriction...but who knows. better yet, who cares!! the car sounds awesome and yes, the rice burners keep there little fart cans quiet when i drive by!!
I have a 93 LT1 with stock cats, no resanator and did muffler eliminator, sounds great. But I have the chrome square LT1 tips. when I let off throttler it makes like a annoying sound. anyone else have these tips?
