What is the best way to make my 1992 LT1 run cooler. A read about the Hypertech chip and 160 deg. thermostat. What other options are available short of an aluminum radiator.

Thanks,

You could try some water wetter! available at most parts stores.

What is it running at? The stock settings are pretty high and are safe. You already have an aluminum radiator. There are a ton of topics about this, run a search in C4 tech for lots of reading.

I'm using a Dewitt two Row Aluminum Radiator, 160 degree Hypertech thermostat, and a Mezierre HD Electric Water Pump is in the mail. I also have it tuned for the fans to turn on sooner. It runs very . I would start by flushing the radiator, cleaning off radiator dabree, and tuning the fans to turn on earlier. If thats not enough you can change the stat and proceed to other things from there. Save your money on the hypertech. I used to have one. I'll let the others debate the pros and cons of engine temps. I would definitely recommend an external trans cooler also.

Do you want it to run cooler at idle or on the road? Programming the fans to come on sooner will help much. The LT1 came stock with a 180* t-stat and I think that is fine. Just making sure you have a properly operating cooling system will help.
