OK, if your fan is kickin on about a minute after you start the car, and the temp isn't even 180 something yet, would you assume -
a. Someone put in a low thermo
b. the sensors need replacing
This is pissin me off a little, it's like they are on/off all the time, despite whatever the temp is. I have also had a hot day where my car was like 230 and they were still going on for like 30 secs, then off 30 secs...
I would probably assume the thing is wired to come on with the ignition, or that something is grounding intermittently after warming up a little but before a fan setting, not sure.
It has nothing to do with the thermostat in the car, that doesnt control your fan.
whoops! I have a 95, LT1. Drove it this morning, and like a half minute after being on, the dang fan kicked on. wth man. I swear, some teacher that didn't know what he was doing owned this car before me, and I have been going in and fixing wierd problems since I have owned it.
There are far too many that hack up their cars when they have no idea of the consequences, Many have incomplete, and sometimes false knowledge as to how their car works. Some of the unknowing, tout their hack jobs, and there plenty of lemmings that follow the blind leaders to the sea.
Both of your fans are computer controlled. Your FSM should have a wiring schematic you can follow to check for and correct any hacked up wiring.
well I don't think it's the a/c. I think it's the main fan. the a/c fan i can see kick on when I have the a/c on, then when it's off it's back to the main fan.
Well, the last specs I saw for your Year (and someone told me they were wrong) were 217 for the Main and 226 for the Secondary or 150 psi for both (about 1.5 volts) from the a/c pressure sensor. You need to look at your Digital Readout to see what the Coolant Temp Sensor is sending to the PCM. You need to scan it to pickup the a/c pressure sensor reading - though if both fans are cranking on shortly after the compressor engages - regardless of coolant temp - that sensor and the PCM are probably ok (as far as a/c operation goes). For everything else, if it's not within specs, then it can only be the PCM or it got reflashed to do something different. To be really sure, scan it.

For 95 it's fans on "lo" at 226* & "hi" at 235*. The fans operate in concert.
The PCM will command fans "Hi" if any of the flwg are present,
1. Certain DTC'S.
2. ECT above 235*.
3. A/C head pressure above 248*.
I would check the fan relay and switch it with one from something else on the car. It may have a weak holding spring or a loose contact jiggling loose with vibration, or a sneak path to ground.
