LT1 long tubes
Yeh, I had my mechanic install them for me since I was in a rush. He highly recommended the TPIS units to me because of his experience with them fitting so well. No such thing as "bolt on" I guess but these came close. Sure hope I get the PCM back today from Ed Wright so I can go play this weekend! :yesnod:
I removed the EGR and the AIR system. all those hoses gone really cleaned the engine compartment up a ton and with the headers and the free space made plug changes as easy as a 15 minute job only due to the asr still in the way. i blocked both passages on the back of the intake manifol and it looks cleaner back there. with our cams, there is no need for the egr valve as the overlap renders the system redundant. there have been no codes and the car runs fine, i also removed my cats and welded 3" pipes to 3" header cones and then welded them to my 3" SLP, the sound is unmistakeable! the Hooker 2149 headers are what i went with and if you plan on removing the EGR and AIR system i recommned what Vette92 did, and what i am doing with dads LT4, order the 2151's, have a local muffler shop weld bungs on the inside of the header collector even with the tranny, and then send them to be coated. this will make your engine sooooo simple to clean and work on as well as free up a ton of room! the only other clearance issue is the motor mount bolts with the hookers. very easy to fix, either jack the motor slightly to remove load on the two bolts. loosen them, slide them out and turn the around tso the threads face the front, replace the nuts tighten and lower the car, its that simple, and with the load off the car the bolts slid right out of my 105k mile car, just play with the jack to get the pressure right for easy rmoval and installation. the sound and power is well worth it, and the hookers are considerably less then the other brands, so if money is an issue, i think the hookers are perfect! send me an email if you have any questions. oh and for future refernce, the drivers side goes in from the top and the passneger side from the under the car. took all of 15 minutes to get them on and bolts in them and torqued! good luck and let me know what ya decide, if you have any questions i just finished this job and am more then happy to lat ya help with what i can1
thnaks and best of luck,
Chris
