I have had the seals replaced on my 95 LT1.I have replaced the water pump, opti, plugs and wires, pan gasket, crank gasket and all associated gaskets. The Corvette Mechanic did the job right and explained what he did.It seems like the crank seal is leaking (small leak). He did the job over 3 times and used GM seals the last time. The same drip.He said it may need a new hub.It is all guaranteed and will do this over again.Did this ever happen to anyone.Does anyone know why this is happening? He even showed me how the seals were pressed in correctly.
Thanks,
He used a stainless steel sleeve already but it still leaks-I guess the hub has a groove in it.I will order a new hub.I think that should do it(hopefully)
Tom Piper- if the leak is not corrected using a new hub,how can this be corrected. The dye in the oil showed that the leak is absolutely coming from the crank gasket. The mechanic has ordered a new hub.
Thanks for your input

I replaced the crank seal, same leak. Replaced the crank seal and installed a hub sleeve, same leak. Replaced the hub and crank seal, no more leak.
Tom,
Who would you suggest to use (after market) if the oem hub is not available. My motor is stock-no mods.
Thanks
There's a link on the second post on this thread -- read to the end of it.
I bought my hub from Thunder Racing -- it is a keyed after-market hub.
But, you don't have to use a key with it, but it is so easy to use a key with it that I think it would be foolish not to.
That same hub is sold by others.
UPDATE
GM started to make new hubs again. My hub for a 95 LT1 was delivered after a 3 month backorder.I guess this is a common problem for leaks. The Vette mechanic installed this new hub today.I put on about 30 miles mostly hwy.I fluctuated the speed -top speed was 85.I let it then sit for an hour and checked under the car and so far so good-I have my fingers crossed that this did the trick.I will drive it more this week to make sure it does not leak.
thank you Tom Piper and STL94LT1
Just a heads up-
if anyone is attempting to do the crank seal order a new hub.You will eliminate alot of frustrating problems and you will not have to redo the job.
