Even knowledge people can get messed up looking up parts for others. Generally speaking not a good idea. Do your own homework.

Exactly.

The part number is the same, whether it be on Summit's site, or on Hedman's site. The part number of those headers listed are indeed Hedman Elite, and also have the A.I.R. hookups.

What's the difference between the "thermal coating" on these and "ceramic coating"? Isn't ceramic supposed to be better, stay cooler, last llonger, and cost more?

I was wondering the same thing. The Elites are advertised as being "thermal coated". I sent Hedman an e-mail asking if the Elite "thermal coating" is the same as their HTC ceramic coating. I'll post the answer as soon as they reply.

Ceramic coating IS a "thermal coating". The thermal coating on the Elite headers is ceramic coating by HTC, one of the best, independent, coatings companies. They did the headers, that I bought uncoated.

I called Hedman. I talked to at Tech Service guy and he told me the Elite's do have a ceramic coating. I specifically reiterated my question to make sure. I also called Summit and they told me the same thing. I'd have to assume they know what they're talking about. The part number I listed stated that the headers had a 3/8" flange and not the 1/4" the lesser grade has. I'd check their return policy and their reputation, and if it's good order them.

Paul

PS the part number I quoted has the air tube for emission purposes.

That makes the $378.00 price on the previously mentioned web site a real bargain if they actually have them in stock. Plus they're offering free shipping on Hedman products. This may clinch the deal for me. I've wanted a set of 1 5/8" long tubes for awhile now.

As I said earlier, call them and see what they say. If they're in stock, and are the Elites I'd take a chance. I think I'm going to.

Bummer!

Had I known this 48 hrs ago I'd have gone with these! Budget is an issue right now for me, and after seeing $600 - $700 prices for long tubes, I decided to buy some used stainless shorties (for $140)to 'make do' for this season. I needed new cats so last week bought some 3" bullitts because I really wanted some LT's.

Oh Crap, huh?

since u have the exact same header, i have a few questions:

1) how does it sound? did it make yor car sound much louder?
2) did u notice a performance gain?
3) were they easy to install?

thanks!

Answered your PM, but here goes again.

It was a good bit louder than it was with stock manifolds and muffler eliminators. Then I had a catalytic converter clog, so I had to gut it out. Once I did that, it was obnoxiously loud and I had to add mufflers. Here's what it sounds like now:

Install was easy IMO since they give PLENTY of room to work with. Performance-wise I can't really give an accurate answer since I also did new heads, ported intakes and 1.6 rocker arms all at the same time. It definitely revs "smoother" if that makes sense?

Only complaints I've seen with the elites is some said small ports, and the clearance is tight on the passenger side to the fuel lines.

I think the port complaint *I* have heard was the fit to the LT1 heads, which the headers aren't even listed to fit.
