Joe there are literally hundreds of threads on this. You will get lots of different answers. The range of guesses seems to be 10 - 20 CHP. On a stock car it will probably be to the low end. I decided not to do headers on my stock Vette because IMO the pain isn't worth the gain.

i dont understand what it is with people on forums...just answer the question instead of telling me to do a search...and if u dont wanna answer then dont....the time u waste telling me 2 search, u can give me an answer....and if u dont have an answer, then dont say anything at all

Hedman's work good w/an 85. Once you bolt them on w/the collectors just measure, and cut the stock y pipe, and have a local muffler shop weld it to the collectors. Recently Agent 86 posted pics of his install of hedmans. I hate to say it, but do a search on his name to veiw his pics. It's worth it.

Unless you count Heads or FI as a bolt on?

Because many of the questions are repetitive and basic. Why waste the forums time with questions you can answer yourself? Also, why ask for opinions if what you really want is reinforcement for a decision you have already made? Why be rude when it is uneccessary? Do your homework and you might really learn something.

Exactly what I had in mind. Heads are a bolt on, so are intakes. You said "best bolt on performance piece". More performance is availible from some other bolt ons so I disagreed.

you can expect 10 to 15 HP, the install on hedmans is easy and the quality is good. I like the way the flows sound with headers, and it is the first good basic modification that you can do on the cheap. It is a good base for the other mods. No chip required on mine and great bang for the buck....1986 l98

Ah okay. I agree with you on the performance, but will argue with you on the definition . I would guess heads would help the most, and after that maybe a miniram or superram? Anyway... that's way off topic, sorry.

I just put them on my 85 a couple of months ago. Don't forget you will have to weld on an 02 bung somewhere. You can buy one at the local auto parts store sometimes.

My elites came with a bung already in ,but if not I guess it would be no big deal to weld it in the collector...mine are coated.

I bought the hedman elite's with the emissions pipes.

Mine did not come with an O2 bunghole.

THe fit and finish is nice for the money. I've put them on the car with no problems.

ALso, you'll need to go to a heated O2 sesor for correct readings.

I wouldn't recommend doing that to a coated header and ruining the coating in that area. There's not a reason in the world why a bung cannot be installed in the pipe just beyond the collector. It will function just as well there.
Joe if you're going to get Hedmans, the Elites are the only ones you want. The Elites are a well made header. With the cheap Hedmans, you get just what you pay for, crap....

Let us know how it goes. I have a 1990 and I'm considering the Hedman Elites also. I saw a website that'll seel you a set for $378, shipping included. That's a pretty good price for ceramic coated headers.
