Default Need 52mm TB advice

I'm looking for a direct replacement for my stock 1995 TB....I heard people had issues with the IAC and the Air Duct Opening if they used a BBK TB. I'm leaning towards Holley (don't have the dough for AS&M). Is the Holley a direct, direct replacement meaning no adjustments needed at all to install????

I went to summit's web site, but it seems that this Holley TB fits only camaros and TransAm 94-97...no mentions of Corvette...any ideas why?????

Any reason you wouldn't want to have the original one bored out to 52mm? There's a guy on that really big auction site who sells rebored/rebuilt 52mm TBs for $200. He has a 99.9% rating on almost 3000 transactions. Do a search over there for xtreme-fi...

This might be part of the reason. This was from an email exchange I had a few years back with the guy who everyone used to use to bore their TBs out to 52mm:

The throttle body from the 97 Trans am will bolt on your plenum fine but there may be a difference in the throttle linkage. Some Vettes used a fast open profile throttle cable cam, others used the more common F body more rounded cam...The fast open cams are painted black while the more common slow ones are a sort of greenish plated color...

Heads up - another member and I both sent money to Dave Koldos two months ago just before he dropped out and wouldn't reply to calls or emails, and now are left empty handed. He had been well recommended before, but stay away now.

I use the Holley 52 on my '95 and it works well. Other than readjusting the throttle cable it was a bolt-on. It idled better right off the bat than the BBK I had ever did w/o a lot of tweaking.

Actually, I think the 92-95 are different than the 96 but I'm not positive about that. Why not try contacting him with the info on the differences I posted above and see what he says?

If your mouth was 4mm larger would it help you run faster or longer? No.

Forgot to ask if the motor is stock, but i do have a 58mm Holley lying around that was used for about 2 days. The ASM TBs bleed the iac into the main plenum but the Holley does have the dedicated port that lines up with the intake manifold Idle air port for proper IAC operation.

If I port the stock TB to 52mm will I have any issues with the TPS???? I'm basically looking for a TB that I can slap my original IAC, TPS and throttle cable on and just run with it without making any adjustments.....best source for stock 52mm???? EM, TPIS, LPE???

Anthony,
I have a 95 TB off my original engine opened up to 52mm by david koldos a few years ago and never installed it. I ended up installing 58mm 3810 Edelbrock. I also have a used 52mm BBK for a 95 engine with 10,000 miles on it. If interested in either, PM me.

I just installed a 52 from extreme-fi on my 85. No difference in anything. The idle was supposed to improve, and the hesitation on acceleration is still there. $250.00 and no change in anything. Should have just cleaned up the original one I guess.

I didn't but once you bore it out you will have to block the inlets that become exposed from under the top plate. Additionally the screws holes from the IAC will now be visible and will need to have a bit of sealant on the screws. By the time you but the parts and do all the work you would probably be better off buying a modded one.

I just bought one from this guy. The auction stated 1985 Corvette and I replied on the buy it now with 85 Corvette. When I received the throttle body it had one extra vacume tube on it. I pluged it and will do a more permanet job later when I change the engine out. The return sheet, so I can get my core charge back, says it must be the same model as received.

Maybe you should see if I have any trouble getting my core charge back before you jump

I would have liked to get back sooner but I still havn't got my core charge returned from the guy on the really big auction site. I bought the 52 mm just for use on a 383. On a 350 I dont think there is much of a change. Dyno results I have seen show 3-6HP which is no change. My 85 runs exactly the same as ever but may need the extra later.
