Default Crossfire idle

I replaced the engine in my 84. It in now idles at about 1200 rpm. I heard it will do this until I drive for about 5 miles. Is this true? I have not taken it out on the road yet.

First it has to be warmed up, to get off of the cold idle. If you removed the IACs, you will have to drive it at over 35 - 40 MPH once warmed up to acclimate the IACs. And of course there is the infamous vacuum leak. Have you removed the TBs? Is there any reason to suspect that the TBs need to be synchronized?

The throttle bodies were removed from the intake. Nothing was done to the adjustments.

I've only had it running for about 5 minutes.

Since you didn't respond otherwise, I assume the IACs weren't disturbed. I would start with the synchronization and minimum air adjustments.
