Automatic AC Control
OK, 96 vert with LT1. Sometimes when I try to turn the AC in the Auto mode on the control unit it will not respond. I can use some of the functions like temp up, fan speed ect. But whe it is acting up it will not go into auto mode and I cannot do temp down or switch it off. But than out of nowhere it all works. Bad control unit? Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Other than the Outside Temp Readout, the only thing that makes the Controls change are internal to the Controls, meaning that if you push a button that sends a signal to something else (like the Programmer which is the processor), the readout should change even if that something else doesn't respond. Service Manual says check it out with a bidirectional scanner which using the CCM link, will emulate the Control Panel and confirm that everything else works. Otherwise, some take them apart and clean the contacts or you could buy a rebuild.

Have you searched this site for codes? I have a 90 vert and recently
had difficulty with ambient sensor, did the search followed the procedures, it now works fine. Also did you check the owners manuel
for fuses?

Try this first, it works on my 94 cpe LT1. Turn off engine and A/C controls. Open fuse cover and pull radio and courtesy lite fuses (4). Wait 2 minutes. Re-install fuses (after checking they are not blown) Re-start engine and try controls. Good Luck.
