I have a 93 that often shows 14.3- 14.1 on the amp gauge it hardly ever gets below 13.7. is this normal? also the sys light flashes I guess I need to get the codes, the battery is new
Sounds like your new battery could be low. When installing a new battery, first put a charge on it. They sometimes lay around a parts store for some time before they are purchased.

If your alternator is good, it sounds o. k., it should bring your new battery to a good charge level. When you first start up does your amp gauge read up around 14.5 and then drop back to the 14.0 after you run for a while?

yes it does, just seemed a little high, I have worked on Fords for 30 years and normal charging system voltage is closer to 13 volts
C4 alternators are designed for 14.7 volts output, alternator cold and the voltage drops with increasing temperature to 13.7 volts. The dash voltmeter reads 0.3 volts low due to the voltage drop of 0.3 volts across the ignition switch contact.
