Default I Need Spicer U-Joints

I've heard many people recomend spicers over the years, so naturally I want them for my D44 install. Well the rear is hanging in the car and I called the local Napa and they sent over some *** crap with zerks that I sent BACK. So they sent *** crap without zerks and said they were heavy duty and I sent them BACK. I said I don't want to ba a pain in the a.. but I want spicers...They call back and say they no longer can get them.

Anyhow, I've been surfing and having some dificulty with something I thought would be easy.

Can anyone steer me to a site and possibly some part numbers so I can finally get back on the road? I'm getting anxious!!!

http://www.gmpartshouse.com/

I just received all 6 from Gene, and they are Spicer. They run about $50-$60 each.

I ordered mine from tomsdifferentials.com, I can't remember the part number right now though, but they were good people to deal with.

The half shafts take 4 of the 5-800X and the drive shaft takes 2 of the 5-786X. Look in the yellow pages under "truck Parts" for dealer displaying the "Spicer" or "Dana" logo. If they don't have them they can order them. You can also check for drive line or drive shaft repair outfits.

Chris,
If you can't find them , I have two brand new 5-786x driveshaft u-joints on the shelf if you want them. I get them from a local truck repair shop here in town. PM me if interested.

You might ask if that part number has been superseded.

The old part #'s have been superceded...the new ones are:

5-785X = (old 5-786X, driveshaft)
5-799X = (old 5-800X, halfshafts)

Picked mine up from Rick at DTS today.

That's not encouraging that that they were superceded by the next lower part number. I know the originals had special anti-corrosion coatings for use with aluminum shafts. I wonder if the 5-785X and 5-799X are the standard versions.

The solid core 5-799X's I am running are the same ones used by all the local drag racers with 1350 driveshafts.

Okay guys, don't hate me....

I had these in my car before I blew the rear and have decided to install them again...

I was told these are what the monster truck guys are running.

http://www.neapco.com/pdf/nov2005_Br...Alumiguard.pdf

Here is the cross reference chart

http://www.neapco.com/pdf/Performanc...ed-9901155.pdf

The very best part is they were $15.00 dollars apiece...

I can't believe the lower numbers supersede the higher numbers. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a superseding list. As you can see from the CHART, the 5-785X and the 5-799X are for steel shafts and don't have the cap coating the the 5-786X and 5-800X have to prevent galvanic action. Dimensionally, they are the same and interchangeable.

DTS may have been substituting the non-coated u-joints for a while.
I didn't know this but lucked out last August when I placed an on-line
order with them for the 5-786X and 5-800X.

Quoting DTS:

> Unfortunately, we cannot ship your order for the following reasons:
> 1st) The item you are interested in (5-800X) has been replaced by 5-799X, and
> is currently back ordered with no date for delivery.
> 2nd) We only ship via UPS or Bax Global outside the US via Internet Order.

Hard to argue with that chart, so I called DTS back and asked them. You are correct...The guy I t/t said that the 786X/800X units are indeed for the aluminum shafts and the 785X/799X are for the steel shafts...not sure why they didn't specify that on their website or when I spoke with the other guy, but it appears that I'll need to be swapping mine for the aluminum ones.
