i have one... i got it at Advance Auto Parts. they come in 13, and 15lb. versions. just be careful that the probe on the cap doesnt come into contact with the top of the tranny oil cooler.
i had one on my GMC, and it looked like it was touching the cooler.... i stopped using it, because i was afraid that over time it may chafe hrough the cooler.
it may never actually happen, i just didnt want to take that chance...

im actually quite interested in buying now one of those built in temp guage radiator caps my self!

they sell the " mr gasket brand" for $19.99 in arange of colors, silver red,blue,gold,e.c.t
but they only have 13 lb or 16 lb caps though apart from 7 lb or 20 lb which is no good of course and now i know that i need a 15 lb standard one, which one do i get?
13 lb or 16 lb?
13 lb part number is = zx277762

i tried to find the dam cap on advance auto parts dumb site that "biglee" got but when you do a search it is like a mine field to find any bloody thing!!!
so i couldnt find a part number!

Niether. Its a gimmick and a waste of money. Also you can buy them in Australia at SuperCheap auto stores, youd be crazy to order something like this from the USA if you can walk into a shop here and buy it for less money.

Go to a GMH dealer and see if they have the proper one.

you may be correct about the cap being 16 instead of 15 psi...
i just saw it in the store, and thought i`d give it a try.. got a good discount on it since i have a friend working there.

one more thing, these caps are a bit taller than regular caps, so it MAY be a bit of a hood clearance issue on the 84-87`s, not sure though.

if any of you have an IR thermomter, it will give you the same info almost as easily...

Itll clear the bonnet no worries mate, 88 and 89 also have the same design, went to high mounted surge tank in 1990.

They are dirt cheap over here when i saw them. The one my mate has on his 85 is reasonbly inaccurate.
