Last Friday we had some serious rain. I went to the car at lunch time to move it under the garage. The alarm remote must have gotten wet. It is an aftermarket Viper alarm that was installed by a previous owner. Both LEDs lit solid green the rest of the day. When I went to the car at night it would not unlock. I used the key to get in but it then would not start and kept setting off the alarm when I would try. I tried unhooking the battery but I new that wasn't going to work. I was also unable to find a hidden overide or fuse anywhere. I decided to open up the remote to take a look. The under side of the circuit board had some corrision where some of the electronics were soldered. I scratched it with my finger nail and off I went. It has been working fine since but in the future I would like to know how to bypass the alarm if needed. Any ideas?
Thanks

Aftermarket alarms on these things can be hell. When I bought my 93 it had one and it didn't like interacting with the factory alarm. Your best bet is to cut out the aftermarket alarm. Once that's done, you can get yourself a PKE remote and be on your way.
Get a manual for your alarm and find where all the wiring goes. Mine was easy to spot where it was spliced into the ignition wire. For starting issues, you could make a kill bypass switch I just jumper a wire before and adfter where the alarm is spliced in). leave it off unless you get stuck, then flip the switch.
If you still have the VATS system in the car (I completely removed all mine) you could always just cut the starter kill out completely and reconnect your ignition wires back together.
You will still have all the shock sensors and noise and locks and stuff working, but if it malfunctions again, you can at least manually open the door with the key, and then start your car, so long as VATS isnt doing it's thing.
