I Went To A Muffler Shop That Does A Little Welding.
I Supplied The Magnaflow Resonator Tips And They Cut Off The Mufflers And Welded On Some Aluminized Straight Pipes For Me.
I Took The Stock Setup And Made It 100 Times More Enjoyable. The Sound Is A Throw Back To The Sixties And Is Quite The Bad-***. The Tips Are Stainless And Look And Sound Great.
I Recommend This Alternative To Anyone Who Is A Little Apprehensive About Going The Full Muffler Elim. Route.
Elims do sound good IMHO,but on LT1 cars they don't improve performance 1 bit except save weight. I know you didn't mention you did it for power
gains but info.
I put elims on my old 84 with high-flow cat, bigger 2 1/2" rear y-pipe and It did make a difference in ET since its not a truel dual system like the LT1/LT4 cars are. The LT1/LT4 cars have such a nice set-up elims don't help. They make it loud.

I Can't Post Pictures Due To My Router.
Do you have the stock cats and resonator on your car? I have stock manifolds, no cats,no resonators, w/magnaflows. I even thought about cutting the mufflers off and running straight pipes. The magnaflows sound good but, they are just to damn quiet.
Mine are just Magnaflow tips. Take off LT1 mufflers seem to sell for about $50 a pair here on the forum. Be sure to state where you are ocated if you list them as shipping is a killer cost.
I have 3 complete exhaust systems. One is the stock LT1 system, one is the B&B system and the last one is my elim/h-pipe/LT1 tipped fun sounding set up. My problem is choosing which one I want to use. So far, when I hit the shows, I put on the B&Bs, when a long cruise or trip is planned with my wife (like that happens a lot) on goes the stock set up, and finally, when time permits I throw on the elims and raise hell. I got the change down to about 1 hour.
92 LT-1. I have cats, x pipe and Borla Mufflers. Just too damn quiet. I'm thinking of adding a couple of manual cutouts just prior to the mufflers - then I can change the exhaust sound in 5 minutes flat.
I did elims on my LT4. I like the sound for the most part, except that at certain rpms the stock resonator sounds like crap IMO. So I ordered an Ultra X Flow from Dynomax to replace the resonator. A true muffler with a built in 3" x pipe. My thinking is that this should tone the exhaust note with out killing the sound. Plus the flow improvement should add a little fun factor.
for adults I mean you don't have to yell at your passenger while cruising down the highway and you are not shaking the windows of your house when you pull in to the driveway. The sound is quite refined with just a minor expense and changes from stock.
If someone wants to take the sound of their car to the next level, fear not this mod. will be just what you need.
Buy the way, nudes on the exhaust tips would be cool!!!!
any sound clips? I want to pull my flowmasters off just to see how it sounds...
do it man, just run with these magnaflow tips Summit # MPE-35175
2.25 in inlet.
it'll be the best mod. you will make. for general driveability.
I see a vette not needing any other exhaust syustem other than these.
I am located here in central florida (titusville) if anyone wants to buy some stock LT1 tipped mufflers.
Will sell for $50.00 to interested parties not including shipping.
