Tirerack.com has Sumitomos for $88.00 each. Have them delivered to an installer in your area. click on my link below for a look at them. I just got a complete set. The rears are 315s and were $99.00. I paid about $12.00 each wheel for high speed balance and install. A set was about $400.00 for everything. http://s147.photobucket.com/pbwidget...1&t=1175881839

Anybody have any real world experience with the Sumitomos? I was considering them also. The reviews on Tite Rack aren't that bad.
I agree, they won't last as long as expensive tires. But, I think they are the best bang for the buck. They handle nice, are quiet and give a nice ride. I would buy them again.
I had sumitomos in past, after 15k miles tread was almost gone, and 2 nails fixed and were driving fine, but expect 15k-20k miles on them, dont last much. 160 tread, little bit softer compound too. HTRZ plus looks better than reguler sumi's with not much difference in price.
Thanks for the info so far. I don't autocross or hit the drag strip but I do want something so I can be ready for the stoplight war. I will be sure to check out those Sumitomos. Also "Kool88vette" I like that photobucket thing you had. Nice vette.

I would say sumitomos are the best bang for the buck, prolly my next tire chioce.

Do you have 9.5" wide rear rims? I am going to try putting the 315s on my 9.5" CE rims. If they dont last long I really dont care, just want to see how they hold up. My michelin pilot sports are really skinny front and rear, so for $350 per tire it is 100% not worth it.

I'd think twice before putting 315's on a 9.5 rim. Factory recommendation for a 315 tire is 10.5 to 12 inch rims, so you would be way under recommended size. I think you'll get some really bad wear patterns and lose any benefit you might have gained from increased tire width. JMHO
Just bought a full set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's...Great tires (about $220/ea.). Fantastic traction and the ride is incredible! Treadwear rating is 280, so probably will only get about 20K out of them, but so far I am very impressed- huge improvement over the original 3 sets of Goodyear Eagle GS-C's I had on this '92.

100% The side wall will roll on the rims when you get into a corner fast!
