Default Adjusting hood release cables

As told earlier the hood lach on the driver's side was not working, the passanger side worked fine. The cable seemed to be about an inch longer than it needed to be.

So I went inside and loosened the hood lease lever and found that the cable on the left had slipped more forward than the cable on the left. So I pulled the left cable back to be in line with the cable on the right.

I retightened the hood release lever.

Now neither of the latches will release.

What do I need to do to "adjust" this system to work correctly?

Thx

Now neither of the latches release

They are probably worn and need to be replaced. I replaced mine several years ago and have had no problems.

The cables look to be in good shape, but I guess I don't understand what could happen to the cables that would warrant replacing them. Do they get stretched out?

Thx

Yes they stretch out over time. I had a similar problem where my latch wasn't releasing on the passenger side. I replaced the whole cable and the problem was fixed.

Now neither of the latches will release.
Look to the work you just did as the issue. I suspect that the left side cable is now too tight.

Loosen the left cable at the hood latch (where the pin goes in) till the right side once again releases. Then adjust the left side cable, at the hood latch till the left side also releases.

Finally had sometime to work on the issue. As it turns out the problem had to due with the cable ends slipping out of the handle end and moving toward the rear of the car.

The fix required me to LOOSENING the screw on the bracket, pushing the cable toward the front of the car, and reseating them into the bracket.

Both work like a charm.

Thx
