Default Noob needs help changing vehicle fluids

I am running hot on my 95 Lt1. I'm at about 244 degrees farenheit on my oil and 217 degrees at the cool oil temp according to the digital gauges. The gauge in the dash is at 225 or so on oil temp. The Car temp is getting up to about 260. I was trying to see if the issue was my fluids and I'm flushing most of the systems but I can't find the radiator fluid ****. I've already tried cleaning the air filter. Also being that I'm not an expert on cars. Is the color of the brake fluid any indicator of something. I just remember my friend being real concerned about his brake fluid getting black in his Zo6.

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding your temps. Do you mean the oil is upwards of 225 and the coolant is even higher? Are you sure your fans are kicking on?

260 is too high for the coolant
These cars suck up a lot of debris from the road that then blocks air flow to the radiator
Are your fans coming on?

Changing the fluids won't help the car run cooler. At 260° your really getting up there, something might be wrong. Debris on the radiator? If your brake fluid is dark, I would change it. On my car the radiator drain is on the passenger side of the radiator, down just in front of the tire. There is a round hole in the plastic and the drain is there.

He wants to know how to change his coolant. What color should his brake fluid be if it needs to be changed. It should be clear but if its dark change it. Even if it isn't dark still change it if your the new owner. Coolant chagne was just explained. I think hes saying his coolant is reaching the 260s. Is this normal? is his quiestion and his car must be running hot. Dont know about L-T1s but to the OP, you need to clarify yourself more specifically. I hope I just figured out your post to help the other guys help you....

From the old "Kung Fu" TV series with David Carradine.

I'm not exactly sure what the OP was trying to tell us about the various temps either, but any way you look at it, they are too high.

Start it up with the AC off and let it idle for a few minutes and monitor the guage, by the time your guage reads 220 I would think your fan should come on if it doesn't shut the car off and take a look at the sending unit. I'm not sure on a 95 but an 85 it's on the front of the intake also look on the drivers side wheel well that will be the relay for the fan. Check the connector if it looks burnt suspect you have a fan motor going bad and drawing to many amps. I'm not sure if it's the same from 85 to 95 but on an 85 you can replace the sending unit, fan motor, relay and relay connector for less than a 100 dollars. Ask me how I know this
