I had thought my wife had driven through high water, seems that just wasn 't so. She tells me it was acting like it wasn't getting fuel, I've changed the fuel pump but still nothing. FP fuse link is good. What else can I check to figure the problem?
Swap the fuel filter if you haven't yet. The fuel pump relay is one of "the usual suspects" . Its near the master cylinder. Is it flat dead, or does it run bad? benny

It just turns over at the moment. I'm about to install the new fuel filter now. be back with more details in a few
Thanks alot 86 but I found the problem. The fuel cap was not on properly. I have a "corvette" cover around my fuel tank neck and that had blocked the weep hole for the water to dispense. Now I have a fuel tank full of water/fuel mix. I'll have to bring a drum home tomorrow & pump my tank out, let her dry out & try again.

This is total deja vu because my car had the same problem. It started up at first and then started running crappy and finally sputtered and died. The first thing I suspected was that the Opti had finally bit the big one and gone belly up. Then I checked so see if I was getting fuel at the fuel pressure relief or whatever you call it. Fluid came out alright but it was almost all water. So I bought one of those portable manual pumps and pumped all of the gas out. The amazing thing is that the first bucket out was all cloudy and obviously mixed with water. The second bucket (cat litter bucket as before) came out and was a little clearer. The third bucket was totally clear and smelled like good ole gas. So now I am waiting for a day off to change out the fuel filter and then see how she starts up. My drain was stopped up with some rubber gromet looking thing. Needless to say it isn't in there now.
