Default Clicking noise

Hello All

It just started today, When I apply my brakes after going about 30-40mph I hear a clicking noise" CLICK CLICK CLICK" sometime which sounds like its coming from drivers side rear brake and when i apply my brakes just sitting still I hear the front drivers side making a sqeaky type noise.

But the brakes are stopping the car fine.
But the clicking noise is really bugging me.

Anyone know what these noise may be??

I hope someone chimes in. My 89 has the same symptoms. A rotational sound around 20-40 that goes away with slight brake pressure but returns when the brakes are off. I'm concerned that it might be the half shaft u joints which were tight when I checked earlier in the spring BUT they are old and might be getting ready to go. I have a trip planned this weekend so I might just have the joints changed. The brakes were new last summer including all new rotors and pads. I'll let you know what I find on the u joints.

U joints could be the culprit. Brake squeal could be the squeaking. I normally put the rear of my car up on stands and rotate the wheels by hand. I can normally tell which side the clicking is coming from by this method. I however must advise that if your removing one half shaft to replace u-joints, might as well spend a few more bucks and replace the others. They often fail not far apart, and its no fun going back up in there a month or two later.

There is also a spindle washer on the inside of the bearing assy that could cause this Clicking noise
Do a search using "rear clicking" or click with the archived threads enabled and you will find volumes of info
Usually its the washer and when its not its the u-joint

Use the Search function, Advanced, include Archives and search, great tool to use, rather than wait for no response... If its a problem its probably already been listed and fixed...

I would bet u-joints at the half shaft, my 88 coupe had the same issue and after they were replaced all is good.

I had a clicking sound. But the car rode smooth no vibrateing at all. I wondered about the U Joints -- I replaced them-- when I did I was shocked the inside joint next to the rear end Half shalf didnt have any bearing left and the cap was breaking apart. If you replace the U-joints on the half shafts remember to mark the cam for the alinement for the rear tires.

All the U-joints and bearings are good they have been checked.
Its something to do with the brakes in the back.

So the car is at the place I bought it and they are replacing the rear brakes.

And im also getting the car tuned up" plugs and wires" and having new tires put on it as well all covered under warranty thank god!!!

One thing I was wondering does the OPTI have a cap like the HEI do??

But thanks for all the replies
