Default Windshield Moulding Question?

Ive got a 96 Coupe that I need to change the windshield in. Does anyone know the best way to get the black moulding around the windshield off. I have not started this project yet. Thought id see if I could get some pointers first. Thanks in advance for any help.

Top weatherstrip retainer is riveted to the molding. On the sides, it's just held with thick foam adhesive tape.

Carefully slip the weatherstrip out of the retainer channels and pry the plastic fasteners out that hold it in place. The bottom edges may have some weatherstrip glue, everything else should be dry.

Then simply remove all the side screws and retainer. Use a thin plastic blade between the molding and the glass to push it sideways off the glass. It shouldn't be glued, there's just a foam tape holding it in place.

I'd recommend having the glass shop do all of this, because these parts can't be reinstalled right unless the glass is in the right spot.

If your glass is not original, all bets are off, it's probably fukt up and everything is glued in place. After my mess with SafeLite, I've checked other C4s and the only ones that were't butchered were original glass.

And also, NEVER hire a large franchise/budget glass shop.

For me the hardest part of replacing the windshield weather strip was getting all the old adhesive off. I had seen estimates of two to four hours to do the job. It took me the better part of the weekend to complete the project. 3M makes a spray adhesive remover that works pretty well but I used Goof Off to do most of the job. There’s probably several products that will work but I think tme and elbow grease is what works the best. I also found that a small plastic scraper helps.
I don't think a shop will take the time or do as good a job as needed if you're as particular as I am.
