My speakers are original in my '87 and today I noticed static (interference) when the motor is running. When the motor is off, they are clear. What
is most likely to cause this? My ignition wires are ACCEL 8.8 high suppression RFI and are 3 years old but I've only put 3000 miles on them in 3 years. I replaced my coil last month with a stock AC Delco. I will check tomorrow when I'm not so tired to make sure the coil hasn't shaken loose or something.
Re: Recent engine static from speakers (Bob Hovey)
Try turning your lights on with the engine running, if the static goes away or quiets down, the ground at the back of the engine is not working. It is located at the top of the engine where the transmission bolts up. Actually there are 2 back there. These genreally go bad when you are leaking oil out the back of the engine or the valve covers leak oil. They are a bit if a pin to clean, but accessible.
