Default Replacing Intake Gasket... what else??

I'm replacing the leaking intake gasket on my 94 LT1 this weekend. At the same time I plan on cleaning the TB and MAF, and replacing the valve cover gaskets and the pcv valve. Is there anything else I should replace or upgrade while I'm in that deep? Thanks!

Oh yeah... it has roughly 90,000 miles.

90K? I'd replace the water pump while I was in there, and do basic preventative stuff like serp belt, heater hoses, radiator hoses.. Check the cap and rotor and wires to see if they are original or real old.. Also pull your radiator and clean out the area between it and the condensor (trust me, if you've never done it, there is a bunch of crap in there.. your car will run cooler once you get it all cleaned out)

In my case, I pulled everything apart and did a major cleaning and replaced anything and everything that I could while I was in there.. water pump, belt, hoses, clamps, sensors, EGR valve, fuel injectors..everything. Unfortunately, I should have followed my gut instinct and done the head gaskets while I was down that deep but decided not to.. Well, now I'm replacing them just a short time after getting everything back together

Just keep very careful track of where every bolt came from and label your wiring harness as you unplug stuff.. I used baggies and a permanent marker to keep track of the bolts.. a seperate baggie for each item I was taking apart..

Another tip would be to get the car up nice and high on jack stands and remove the front wheels.. that way you can stand right in next to the motor without bending over all day.. it's much nicer on the back.

Good luck~

You may want to put in new intake manifold bolts while you are at it. They are cheap and will help clean up the area since you will have a clean intake manifold. If you haven't already bought the gaskets, I would go with the felpro kit. It comes with pretty much all of the gaskets to include the EGR Valve gasket. It even came with the rubber o'rings for the fuel injectors. You might want to replace the check valve while you are at it as well. They are pretty cheap and more than likely it will break if it is the original. I had to replace the gasket on top of the throttlebody. Mine looked like crap and was all distorted.I would also suggest getting some Permatext sealer. I removed and reinstalled mine and it was pretty easy. Just make sure you let the Permatext get a little tacky before you try and put it in place. And when you are sitting the manifold down on the motor try to get it to drop straight down on it versus sliding it in to place. Also get you plenty of anti-freeze because you will have to drain yours to do the change. Good luck and take pictures before you start so you will see where everything goes when it comes time to putting things back together.
