Default Water Injection on a C4

hELLO

I was wondering about adding a water injection system to my C4
after the mass air sensor, I think it could add some power, and reduce detonation, and mybe inprove MPG, any body do this yet?
I have a buddy who has done this on a 1969 chevelle.
This would be a great little kit if it will work.

Parts Im getting to get started:
Water supply
pumming
temp switch
vacuum swith
spray nozzle

I have one on mine, works off the W/W pump. I use a 50/50 mix of windshield washer fluid and water, supposedly makes around 5-10% (Im no expert, going by what Im told) methanol. It definitely helps with detonation and can notice a power difference. Not huge, but noticeable. I tried running sraight methanol, and 50/50 methanol. slowed the car down. Needs a tune specifically for it. Summit sells a kit thats ready to go, this one operates off the TPS, when it sees full throttle it is on. A light under the dash comes on to let you know when its pumping.

I had one on a previous turbo car. I would think for it to be of much benefit, you would have to tune for it, like mentioned above. You would be taking risks with the engine. Since the tune might be dangerous without the water, I would make sure the tank were always full or it had a display to let you know it was empty. I had two tunes in my car, and could switch between them with a toggle switch. High and low boost tunes. From what I remember, running just the water without a tune, would make less power. Because you are displacing some A/F mix. I am no expert with running this on a N/A car, perhaps more timing would make more power but there will be a point were that will not help.

Cuisinartvette yours is not FI? What did you all change with running the water?

On my old car I ran a 70/30 mix of denatured alchohol and distilled water. The methanol can be corrosive. The water injection helped my head gaskets live at 25 PSI.

its fuel injected, either got a gallon jug of the 50/50 premix windshield washer fluid or mix some full strength stuff with water. That got me a good result. When I put actual methanol in there the car didnt like it and I agree its really corrosive to the seals in the pump.

FI = forced induction, sorry. I don't see anything in your pic but this monitor is terrible. What made you choose water injection over nitrous?

I would check with Greg at Blowerworks. I use his kit on my FI 383. Works great....
