I have a half-shaft with no ujoints installed. Therefore, I measured where the farthest point of the ujoint would be on the outside. My measurement is 19 5/16 inches.

Wait, explain that more.

If this was a halfshaft with u-joints installed..

+-----+

Did you measure from the outter left/right edges of each + sign? Would you be able to measure from the center of each end cap pressed into the halfshaft for him? All of my spares are at my parents' house 50 miles away so I can't.

ex: ()--------() this is 1/2 shaft and "(" on left and ")"on the right, is the outside edge of u-joint cap. I do not have u-joints in the 1/2 shaft. Outside edges of where caps would be is 19 5/16 inches apart.

Doesn't really matter if I measure with ujoints on. His 1/2 shafts are definately toooooo small. what is the size of the cap? lets's say 1" then center of caps would be 19.3125" - (1/2 * 2) = 18.3125". VS his total length of 15"

I've a couple that are still attatched to knuckles and not easily reached but I'd put center to center 18" +/- They're overhead and difficult to move about but I'm comfortable with the 18" dimension.
