You don't need to change your master cylinder to get great braking performance. The J55s are an option but if you don't already have them, it's likely just as cheap or cheaper to add C5 fronts. The C5 calipers are a little better due to less flex and a larger pad surface. I like the bias spring because it reduces nose dive and makes for a smoother transition into corners during hard braking. The HPS pads are a good choice for street and limited track use, auto-crossing and etc. For track sessions of much length you'll need a full race pad though. This is the only time you'd really get any benefit from brake ducts too. But when you really need them, they become important. Past this, plan on shelling out big bucks ($2-3K) for the real race stuff.
Thanks Aardwolf, I will check what you suggest.
I really do not know how the car was treated in the past, and changing pads incorrectly could have happened.
I usually use a big C clamp with a used pad and return the piston.
Intresting that this could happen, after all the caliper was meant to resist a lot of pressure, but at guided angles.

When you get ready to upgrade to the c5 stuff, just drop us a PM and we can get you an upgrade kit with the adapters right out. 3-4 day shipping anywhere in the lower 48.
