Default Spark Plug wire choice

I will be installing headers next weekend. I figured I would replace plugs and wires at the same time.

Any recommendations of good wires, or warnings against certain brands?

FYI, these will be going on a stock engine, except for the lt headers, and possibly a bigger cam later this summer.

Thanks, Matt

Where can I get these? Summit? Autozone?
What should I be looking to spend on a nice set of wires?

I have Hooker 2151 headers. Possibly an ignorant questions, but will 90 degree boots fit with these? Do I need certain wires for headers?

On Summits website I'm seeing Taylor Spiros ranging from $57 to $110. Which are ya'll using? 8mm, 10.4mm?

8.5's work nice for the L98, I believe LT guys are using the 8's due to cap and wire looms not fitting the 8.5 w/out work. The 90's work fine, and Summit does have good prices.

Taylor makes a specific wire set for the LTx engines. All of the boots are 90*, except for #'s 6 and 8.

I just put a set of Taylor 8mm's on my 92 last week. I used the 8mm's because I wanted to use the stock wire looms. $57 at Summit.
I've been using Taylor's on racecars for years with no failures, close to headers, etc.
You won't gain any advantage by going to a larger wire than 8mm in your application even if you change cams.

I like the spiral core type of wires because they offer less resistance (ohms) than the stock carbon core wires, yet surpress RFI like the stockers. With headers you want wires with silicone (burn resistant) boots. Your wires are 8 mm. The super 8.5 mm, 10.5 mm, etc. only offer additional insulation that you really don't need, at the expense of extra installation hassles.

RACE ON!!!

Well then I think I will put me an order out for some Taylor Spiro-Pro 8mm wires (TAY-74225) like STL94LT1 suggested. They do have silicone boots like CFI-EFI recommended.

So one more question... what plugs? Haha.

Thanks guys for all the help.

My car ran it's first 14 second run on a stock, ac delco plug. It also ran it's first 13 second, 12 second, 11 second, and 10 second et in a stock type ac-delco plug.
Run what ever is cheap and has the correct heat range.

A very good cheap plug, NGK TR55 ~$15/set. A little better expensive plug, Denso Irridium IT 16/20, ~$80/set.

Don't waste your money on MSD wires. I have had nothing but problems with the set I have.

Autolites work like a charm.

I see good and bad post about MSD. Some like the ignitions. Some have problems.
