I noticed a ticking from under my hood yesterday. I opened it up and traced it to the alternator. Now it's my understanding that they are NOT supposed to do this.
My voltage is still ok but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it needs to be replaced.
I already have an appointment at the dealership tomorrow morning, so I'll just throw this in with the pile of other things they are looking at.
I'm just wondering how much it will cost to get a new alternator and have it installed.... I'd like to go in w/ some idea so I don't suffer from TOTAL sticker shock

Re: Ticking Alternator (Bradley3)
If you are sure you need an alternator, it is one of the simplest things to do yourself on these cars...you can buy a good rebuild for around 130, dealer will want as much as 295 for a new one and probably charge you an hour labor
