Default 383 Decision

Okay my 200mph dream is on hold. I have decided to wait a few years and purchase a Z06 to build instead. So here is my question for all of those who made the jump to a 383 and kept your TPI how happy are you with your money spent. Also, I really only want to put about $6,000into my vette and then I am done moding until I can save money for a
Z06. The reason $6,000 is my lucky number is that I am considering selling my motorcycle and using that money for it. Both the vette and the bike are my toys and I barely have time to use either one. The cars main use is for autocross and Open Road Racing a couple times a year.

Default save the 6000

save the six and put that towards the Z06. Find an agressive money market fund. In a couple of yrs. you can double your money!

My other thought with the car was to just do a minram, heads and cam. That way I could do most the work myself.

I built the hell out of my 350 LT1 two years ago. I spun a rod bearing at the track so upon the second rebuild I went 383, using all of the same top end components (heads, cam, etc).

I didn't have a lot of time with just the 350, but it seemed just as strong as the current motor. I'm not sure that it really gets you much to spend the money and go bigger.

The torque is nice, but it's really not that much higher than with the smaller displacement.

i went 406ci, not finished yet, but should be a flat out runner (i hope) 490hp 525lbs torque, should be a little more when i get done with it.

Thanks ScaryFast. That is what I was looking for. The car runs good but it is hard to justify dumping a few grand in it if it is not really going to make a huge difference. I am going to get the car dynoed within the next month to see where the power of the car is currently at.

thats the BEST idea, then any little thing you do you can see if your moving forward or backward, sometimes more HP means less torque, and vice versa, that way you can keep it in check depending on what you want to accomplish, and as usuall, the cheapest way is always good, (to achieve hp gains that is) (not parts) lol.
