I brand new to this Fourm as well as a First time corvette owner. I purchased a 1991 Coupe Automatic with 61,000 about 1 week ago. The issue I am having is when the car is idling it feels like it is going to die. The RPM Gauge is not doing dropping and it is functional.
Any ideas what the issue may be and what the fix cost
Second Question: In the Cluster the only gauge not working is the Engine temp Gauge any ideas ?
Please respond I have been reading the fourm and have enjoyed the information from the members

Don't replace ANYTHING without TESTING it first. Replacing parts and hoping for positive results is only throwing money at the problem. Any uneducated grease monkey can swap parts. Step one, is get a hold of a FSM (Factory Service Manual). While you are waiting for the manual to show up, you can start by checking for any kind of small vacuum leaks. It is a good idea to clean both the IAC and the IAC passages in the TB. The FSM will give you the correct procedure for reinstalling the IAC without damaging it.
For the temp gauge, you can start by checking that the gauge reads cold with the wire at the sending unit disconnected and at the maximum (299°?) with the wire grounded. That will help to isolate the cause of the problem. You may actually need a sending unit, but why waste money on a "maybe"? A thorough diagnosis is what separates the mechanics from the parts swappers.
