Degreeing a cam on install?

Degreeing a cam on install?
I'm doing a bit of research into a cam install for my LT1 and I was wondering if I could glean a bit of knowledge from anyone who has done this before... When you put the new cam in, do you just line it up like the old one was or do you have to use some sort of cardboard wheel that shows the degrees of the cam? :confused: TIA! :)

The best thing I can suggest is buying a cam degree kit from any major cam manufacturer ( comp, crane.....ect) It should have detailed instructions, degree wheel, dial indicator and fixture. the only thing you will need to do is fabricate a pointer (I use a paperclip.) follow the instructions and have fun!!! :seeya

I would (did) install it just like the original (zero degrees).
Not sure how much is gained from 'degreeing' a street car, nor how much trouble it'll cause if done incorrectly :eek:
