I have a friend that has a 96 Camaro and he is going to take out the cats but when he does so what sute he do with the O2 sensors? some people have told us to take them out and just hang them up is that right it does not sound right to me.
Some people have even told him to go with ODBI but it sound to me like the ODBII is a better computer what do you all think.
Since it is a 96 LT1 engine you cant use the LT1-Edit on it does anybody else make a program to tune that year or do you have to send the computer off all the time?
Im looking forward to get some reply on this.
The CAT O2's are a little trickier than the exhaust O2's. w/o the cats these signals will vary widly likethe exhaust O2's. This in turn will effect the closed loop operation. It will still work, but CL tuning will be efected.
There are a couple Co's/people that sell O2 SIM's. These just give the PCM what they are looking for. i.e. No effect on closed loop operation.
Sorry, I don't have any Co names to send you. Do a search. If you come up dry, drop me a note.
ZylaRace I guess he will nead that since he is going with some headers and no cats, so the shims will do the trick?
What about reprograming the computer does he nead that.
Sorry, I don't have any direct info to send you. I seem to recall it was a speed shop that was offering them. (I pitched that info a couple weeks ago.) Did he try a web search? I recall they were $'y. Think they were 40-$50 each. That is a lot for a simple circuit.
You don't need to reprog the PCM if you don't want to. Although, just like any mod, a retune will get the most bang outta your ride.
