What is availible for tuning the L98 from 1989? Even once I get the motor built the computer system will likely stay so I am looking to see what type of options are out there. Most of the stuff I have worked with in the past was just handheld, and I never actually got anything tuned with them.
You need a few other things to then burn your adjusted bin onto a chip which can then be installed in your car. Is your '89 an early speed density or the last of early year MAF setups?
, i am starting this on my temporarily maf set up on my 1986, going to buy the aldl cable. i am curious what suggestions will be. i am planning to tune my stock ecu and chip, so what else is needed to alter? any special chip or socket adapter?

Other then a laptop what else will I need to make this a good system to use for repeatedly changing things around and needing to keep up on fresh tunes?

Go to Moates and buy the G1 adapter with ZIF socket, Burn1 and a couple of the flash-able chips. A laptop with a serial port and windows 98 is a good combo. Buy or build the cable, then use Tuner pro for data-logging and bin work. Burn1 has got to be the easiest chip burner on the planet. I'm only suggesting these because I have them and they work.
