Default Distributor Cap - Screw down or Clamp?

Hello forum! I'm a noob here so please be gentle!
Am trying to find a distributor cap for my 85 that has brass contacts and is made out of red plastic (asthetic reasons), but all I can find is the clamp down style caps. My 85 has a screw down cap.
Are L98's HEI distributors clamp down or screw down style?
Thank you!

Cut off the bent end of the clamps. Then replace them with the screws from your old cap. Thats how I got the red MSD cap to work on my 86.

Stock style caps for '85 are of the screw down type, but I like the clamp style better.

I Think I know this --- someone correct me if they know differently. please... The distributor caps for injected (TPI or TB) cars/trucks are screw down (I believe regardless of the year) and the non injected application caps are clamp down type. You can take the clamps out of the caps that have them and use screws with them.

I also think that a clamp type cap will work fine on top of a screw type distributor housing (I have a pile of parts under the bench at home, I'll have to try it and see...). The housing castings are the same Externally (different stuff in the molds Inside - mounting pad for the module, vacuum advance mounts, etc.)

The screw down housings also have the notches under them for clamp type cap usage. Either type cap will work.
