I'm currently living in Charleston, SC for the year, and since moving here my steering seems to have alot more play in it than before. The roads here are TERRIBLE :mad!! Potholes, and cobblestone everywhere!
Anyway, what could I do to get my steering back to its original condition? It's a 1996. Dosent seem to pull left or right, so I doubt it needs alignment. Just a sloppy steering wheel. I want it back to factory performance. PLEASE HELP!!! its driving me nuts. Thanks!
The best way to figure out what's wrong is to get the thing up on blocks and have a helper wiggle the steering wheel while you look to see what's sloppy underneith. You can pretty easily spot a bad tie rod end. However, as previously mentioned, there's a good chance it's the rack.
Not that I had a promblem as bad as you, but when I had her alined, I landed up changing out 2 wheeling bearings. And I thought she was pretty tight. Good alinement worth the price, and they will let you know what you need if any thing. good luck
