Default '90 Vert Stock TB Cleaning Question

Any way to clean the TB without removing from the car? At some point in the near future I will change the TB and runners for better intake, although I would like to clean the TB and Plenum now.

Thank You

Buy some TB cleaner in an aerosol can and spray and wipe what you can can reach. You'll be able to get the bores and blades, but you won't be able to clean the plenum. It is pretty simple to remove the TB, why not do it and then you have the ability to clean the IAC bore and pintel and will be able to clean the entrance of plenum. Doing the coolant bypass of TB wouldn't hurt either. It will make future TB removals a breeze.

Do it right and remove the TB and IAC motor and clean the pintle properly. Use Vavoline Synthetic TB cleaner in the areosol can. Works great!

It'll mellow your base idle and improve throttle response, too.

Check the C4TechTips Section on this Forum for the how-to article. It's not hard.

If you have a coolant hose running to your TB like LT1 and LT4 engines, take a plastic hose clamp and squeeze it off to avoid leaking coolant onto your Optispark.

If you have an L-98 engine, you don't have to worry about soaking your Opti.
