Default Emblem Removal Tips

Anyone have any tricks or best procedures for removing them. I'm going to replace them but I wanted to know what's the best way to take them off. They are the front and rear badge and the "CORVETTE" on the back.

The car is getting painted Tues and I need to remove them.

86E coupe by the way.

Warm them with a heat gun or hair drier but do be careful not to overheat. You could probably get by with full on sun until the surface is too hot to touch. If needed to get things started, I also use a plastic scrapper that is for cleaning pots and pans. It has a "sharp" edge that can help you get a purchase for removal.

I tried using a scraper on my 5.0 and ended up scatching the paint. I was told by a few professional bodywork and paint guys that they use fishing line to remove emblems. Pull out the tackle box!

Dental floss worked for me.

Not this kind, the oral hygiene kind.

I would be interested in purchasing this "full" floss package? Where can it be had?

I replaced both front and rear emblems last week...the front was not glued on...removed the nuts (10 mm) from inside the hood..hint: after they're loose put a magnet on your 10mm deep socket, and you won't worry about dropping the nuts into the bottom of the hood. For the back emblem I got some thick cardboard, so I would not mar the paint and "walked" a couple of small screwdrivers around. I never thought about a heat gun, but it makes sense. Be careful though...may be best to "get a start" on it first with the small screwdrivers

Dental floss or fishing line works great. Dont try and pry it with anything.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm not too worried about the current paint because it's getting a color change and new emblems I was just wondering if there was an easier way than I had already thought of. Thanks for the tips and I'll see what I can do this weekend since Tues she gets her new paint job.... FINALLY
